Fairfield woman publishes book on her immigrant ancestors

Andy Hallman Oct. 24, 2021

Rhoda Orme-Johnson has written “Anna: An Immigrant Story” about her grandmother Anna, who immigrated to the country a century ago with her five children. The book is set in one day of her life in 1951. The reader is introduced to family members coming and going through the house in Cleveland, Ohio, and rides Anna’s memories back to the Old World, to the “shtetl” or Jewish settlement where Anna grew up.

NEW BOOK

The Blessing of Maharishi: The Wonderful Story of My Life

by Lothar Pirc

A courageous, honest book, full of surprising twists and turns.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (1917-2008) has had a far greater influence on the destiny of humanity than has been known to the public. He revived the ancient, Vedic knowledge of mankind in its entirety and linked the wisdom of the East with the science of the West. The groundbreaking scientific research he initiated shows that humanity is at the beginning of a new, peaceful age. Maharishi spread worldwide the simple, natural technique of Transcendental Meditation. He thus enriched the lives of millions of people while shaking up entrenched, outdated concepts.

Lothar Pirc, CEO and owner of one of the most successful Ayurveda clinics in the Western world, shares with the reader the impressive experiences and accomplishments in his life. Deep meditation, miraculous encounters with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and Lothar's wish to contribute to a better life situation for mankind. A mixture of deep insights, exciting adventures, and ever-new experiences of an eventful life, this book presents the author's joyful moments, as well as his doubts and conflicts. In addition, he reveals the explosive political and ecclesiastical machinations against the TM organization over the last decades. In an unprecedented way, the reader gains an insight into the wisdom and activities of Maharishi, a great saint of modern times.

Take Your Experience to the Next Level with an Advanced Technique

of the TM Program

Saturday Nov. 13th at the Maharishi Peace Palace

Application Meeting Friday, November. 12th 2PM

The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.” —TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are Advanced Techniques?

A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our regular daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.

Q: How many are there?

A: There are four Advanced Techniques brought to light by Maharishi in his Vedic Science and Technology, the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The first is practiced for a few minutes before going to sleep. The second, third, and fourth Advanced Techniques are effortlessly incorporated into your twice-daily TM practice.

Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?

A: One at a time and in sequence. You’ll practice an Advanced Technique at least two to four months before adding the next one.

Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?

A: Specially trained, highly experienced certified TM teacher Mario Orsatti has been teaching the TM technique since 1973 and the Advanced Technique courses for the last 4 years. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness at the David Lynch Foundation, where he oversees TM programs for government and military leaders in Washington, D.C., and for business executives in New York City. He will be present at each session for instruction and verification.

Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?

A: You must have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for a minimum of the last two months to be eligible to apply for an Advanced Technique. Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! That said, if you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.

Q: What is the course structure?

A: The course consists of three sessions:

  • First, an orientation meeting (1½ hours)
  • Second, personal instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
  • Third, a checking meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)

Orientation: An orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. But if you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend the orientation meeting and then fill out an application form. Here is the schedule of orientation meetings:

Friday, Nov. 12th  2PM

Personal Instruction: Saturday Nov. 13th

Checking Meeting: Sunday Nov. 14th 9:30am & 11am

Mahalakshmi National Yagya

OCTOBER 25 – NOVEMBER 4

DONATE BY OCTOBER 19

“Mahalakshmi is the source of all affluence and progress.” —Maharishi

The next US National Yagya performance will begin on October 25 and culminate on Mahalakshmi Day—November 4—ideally timed to take full advantage of this most auspicious occasion.

Mahalakshmi is the aspect of Nature that brings inner and outer affluence, fulfillment of desires, and good fortune. Maharishi described the Day of Mahalakshmi as, “the most awakened day out of the 365 days of the Vedic calendar.”

A charitable gift in support of a Yagya performed during this time is said to bring the most powerful blessings to both donor and recipient.

The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:

A healthy, coherent, prosperous, and happy America―with ideal weather

May the full power of Nature’s Creative Intelligence guide and uplift America, and may Maharishi’s legacy of peace and enlightenment permanently bless the human race

Join Us at the “Genius Lounge”

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.

Why do we call it Genius Lounge?

This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.

In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

New eBook - Maharishi - The Growth of Love is Spontaneous

During a lecture in Humboldt, California, 1972, Maharishi speaks about the growth of love. He explains how, as consciousness expands, perception refines and, with that, the natural ability to spontaneously experience the full range of love grows to its fulfillment.

Maharishi makes so many profound points in this lecture, including:

  • The importance of naturalness in loving behavior
  • The value of apologizing for a mistaken behavior

This eBook with audio along with the text from this very profound lecture includes some special pictures of Maharishi.

We highly recommend viewing it on a computer with Google Chrome as this gives a very full and enjoyable experience. Please turn the pages slowly and wait for the audio bar to begin playing on the selected pages with audio. The first audio bar appears on page 4 after the title pages.

Improving Neuroadaptability, Preventing Disease, and Enhancing Physical and Mental Health 46:42

A discussion with Keith Wallace, Ph.D., and Ted Wallace

Robert Keith Wallace, Ph.D., and his son Ted Wallace talk about how we can improve the way our brain physiology responds to the many threats and challenges from our environment, and how neuroadaptability affects health from the perspective of modern medicine and Ayurveda, the world’s most ancient system of natural medicine.

Dr. Wallace is a pioneering researcher. His seminal studies on the physiological effects and benefits of the TM technique, published in ScienceAmerican Journal of Physiology, and Scientific American, helped to create a new paradigm of mind-body medicine and total brain development. He is the founding President of Maharishi International University and has traveled around the world giving lectures at major universities and institutes on Consciousness-BasedSM health programs. Dr. Wallace is the author of many books, including his latest book Self Empower: Using Self Coaching, Neuroadaptability, and Ayurveda. He is also the author of the bestseller The Rest and Repair Diet: Heal Your Gut, Improve Your Physical and Mental Health, and Lose Weight.

Ted Wallace is a published researcher in the field of human development. His most recent paper, published in January, 2021, is “Neuroadaptability and Habit: Modern Medicine and Ayurveda.” He is also a successful corporate coach, helping to increase the adaptability and effectiveness of workers and management. He serves as an Agile Coach at Principal Financial Group. He has master of science degrees in computer science and in physiology, and has co-authored several books, including Total Brain Coaching: A Holistic System of Effective Habit Change for the Individual, Team, and Organization and Self Empower.

An anthropologist showed a game to the children of an African tribe ...

He placed a basket of delicious fruits near a tree trunk and told them: The first child to reach the tree will get the basket

When he gave them the start signal, he was surprised that they were walking together, holding hands until they reached the tree and shared the fruit!

When he asked them why you did that when every one of you could get the basket only for him!

They answered with astonishment: Ubuntu, "That is, how can one of us be happy while the rest are miserable?"

Ubuntu in their civilization means: (I am because we are).

That tribe knows the secret of happiness that has been lost in all societies that transcend them and which consider themselves civilized societies.

Words of Wisdom?

They say we can have gatherings with up to eight people without issues. I don't even know eight people without issues.

I have opened a can of worms. They just sit there, the worms. Hardly the chaos that's been advertised.

Theme parks can snap a crystal clear picture of you on a roller coaster going 70 mph, but bank cameras can't get a clear shot of a robber standing still.

The fastest land mammal is not a cheetah ... it's a toddler who has just been asked "what's in your mouth?"

Dear paranoid people who check behind their shower curtains for murderers .. if you do find one, what's your plan?

Facial recognition software can pick a person out of a crowd but the vending machine at work can't recognize a dollar bill with a bent corner.

Research has shown that laughing for two minutes is just as healthy as a twenty minute jog. So now I sit in the park and laugh at all the joggers.

Covid-19 Fact: 87% of gym members don't even know their gym is closed.

I needed to do the laundry, but then I realized I was out of detergent, so I went to write a shopping list and realized how disorganized the junk drawer was, and started checking pens for ink. When I went to toss all the junk, I saw that the trash was full but before I took it out I wanted to get rid of old food in the fridge. That's when I realized a juice jug had leaked so I needed to clean it up but when I went to grab a rag, I saw that the pantry closet was a nightmare so I started organizing it. And that's how I ended up on the floor looking at my old photo albums from the 1990s and not doing laundry.

David Kramer named Citizen of the Year

By Marianne Napoles Oct 9, 2021

When asked to share “something the community doesn’t know about him,” Mr. Kramer said, without hesitation, “I taught Transcendental Meditation to Arthur Ashe.”

Mr. Kramer took a course in Transcendental Meditation from the first American-trained teacher in San Diego in 1968 and has been practicing it seven days a week twice a day for 20 minute sessions ever since.

He said it comes as natural to him as brushing his teeth.

“It’s so simple, even I could do it,” he said. “It wakes up the brain.”

“Our nervous system can reach a deeper level than the deepest level of sleep,” he said.

Ahead of Alkaline Trio's Dallas Tour Stop, Matt Skiba Shares His Recipe for a Good Life

CHELSEY NORRIS OCTOBER 14, 2021

"There are plenty of times when I start to lose my grip, and I’ll meditate, and then sometimes I can’t even remember what was bothering me. Meditation has been a lifesaver and a sanity-saver for sure.”

Skiba manages to keep a clear head while balancing his commitments to two major musical endeavors, in addition to his private life, by writing one song a day and by practicing transcendental meditation twice a day.

“Who told you I kept my sanity?” he says with a laugh. “There’s plenty of [coping] options out there, but the healthier ones tend to work better. I grew up just with a lot of anger in my heart, and it’s poisonous. I started meditating like 15 years ago, and it helped me let go of that anger. It helped me let go of any sort of anxiety.
