The Golden Jubilee celebrations will start in 3 weeks from now and we are working hard on finalizing all the events. It will be a fabulous and memorable weekend. One small detail is that all the Guests will have badges with a lanyard showing their name, degree completed (if an MIU student) and year graduated. For staff and faculty, we would like to also have a badge with lanyard if you plan to participate in any of the events. In order to get this badge, please complete the information page found here. Please make sure to complete this (takes 1 minute), by Wednesday, April 13th. Thank you very much.

Golden Jubilee - Help Needed!

The planning of the Golden Jubilee Celebration (April 29 – May 3) is coming along, and many people are now busy preparing. However, more help is needed. Everyone has a fulltime job and has only limited time to put in. More hands would make lighter work. We need people now to join us, but we also will need many people to help during the actual days of celebration. Many, many things will need to be coordinated and attended to during this festive and historic weekend. 

Some needs are:

·       Help in Archives sorting and cataloging historic slides

·       Helping with campus tours

·       Setting up a community picnic

·       Hosting faculty presentation sessions

·       Helping with invitations

·       Developing promotional materials and website

·       Campus decorations

Here is the basic schedule:

· Friday, April 29 is a travel day with a Welcome Dinner that evening for those arriving from out-of-town.

· Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be packed with events. Tuesday is the day of Lasting Achievements in the Vedic Calendar and, among other great events, Raja Howard Settle will break ground for the total reconstruction of Utopia Park—to be renamed “Global Peace Village.”

· Wednesday, May 4th will be a travel day with an optional breakfast for those still in Fairfield.

Among the Many Highlights:

· Tours of our newly renovated Campus and surrounding areas

· Keynote address by Dr. Tony Nader (Raja Raam)

· Evening Fireworks

· The story of how MIU was founded—presented by the people who were there with Maharishi

· Special historic presentations by Dr. Bevan Morris

· Special reunion events for our legacy classes

· Entertainment greats from the past and present (Surprise!)

· University President John Hagelin and MIU Faculty present the latest remarkable achievements, and lay out a vision of our future

· Daily International Food Festivals

· Special events for Computer Professional students

Web Series: Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine

 

Free Maharishi AyurVeda Wellness Consultations

Offered by Ayurvedic Physician, Vaidya Sanjeev Kalra and his five AyurVeda Wellness and Integrative Health students to MIU students, faculty, staff, and community members. 

Vaidya Kalra has been treating patients for more than fifteen years and is an experienced expert in Maharishi AyurVeda Pulse Diagnosis. 

For increased safety, these consultations are offered in Gate Ridge Court building in a large room 201. As a client, you will be sitting behind a plexiglass structure wearing a mask. Students and Vaidya will all be wearing masks and sterilizing their hands before and after feeling your pulse. 

Consultations are offered in mornings and afternoons during the following dates:

Let's Change the Course of History with Synchronized Yogic Flying

The fate of the world—and the lives of all of us—will be greatly impacted, one way or another, by the U.S. government’s crucial decision-making about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

In a very real sense, this conflict is not merely between Russia and Ukraine; it is between Russia and the Free World, which is led by the United States. Our government urgently needs the support of a highly coherent state of national consciousness.

Inspire one Sidha friend to join

Please reach out personally to at least one Sidha friend this week and inspire them to join the Virtual Dome. This is our quick strategy for doubling our numbers and taking a giant leap toward 3,000.

Even though we are not physically gathered in a single place, scientific theory and experimental evidence from earlier globally coordinated Super-Radiance projects strongly support Maharishi’s historic statement that synchronized Yogic Flying® at a distance is “75–80%” as powerful as flying together in a group.

This means that America’s Super-Radiance number for our Virtual Dome Coherence-at-a-Distance is just shy of 3,000.

We can easily achieve this!

Whenever we have approached or exceeded our national Super-Radiance number of 1,815 in the United States, the results have been truly transformational.

MIU Regenerative Organic Agriculture Program's Community Supported Agriculture Program2022 Season

Join our CSA and Teach Future Farmers, hands on, at our unique biodynamic, organic, regenerative farm!!! CSAs were started back in the ‘80s, as a way for farmers to guarantee seed money (pun intended) in the Spring. And for families to know where their food was coming from, and getting the freshest veggies all Season. Our MIU CSA supports the training of new Regenerative Organic Farmers– vital to the Earth’s health, now more than ever!

Greenhouse sowing is happening now, with favorites and some new varieties of vegetables, and this year, sweet corn! If you don’t like nightshades (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant), or have other preferences, substitutions can be made, within reason. Plan on a sizable amount of produce each week, and please feel free to share recipes with us!

This year, our CSA will run from June 16th – Oct. 20th, giving you a whole season of fabulous veggies for $425. That works out to $22 (a $30-$35 value!) per week for Organic, Local, Biodynamic Certified vegetables grown with love by our farming students.

Erik Thompson, founder and president of Thompson Leadership Development, a national executive coaching firm, discusses key principles of management and leadership, and how they apply to one’s career advancement, family life, and personal development.

Mr. Thompson trained as a family psychologist and spent his early career using systems leadership theory to strengthen families, hospital administrators, and prison wardens. Since 2005 he has been coaching senior executives and their leadership teams. He created the “Leading by Managing Self” course that has been taught at more than 40 companies throughout the United States.

He is also the co-founder and executive director of the non-profit Vermont Center for Family Studies, an organization dedicated to strengthening families by training expert family therapists and advisors.

Questlove missed Will Smith's slap because he was meditating

(CNN)When Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards on Sunday, audience members both in the Dolby Theatre and at home were stunned. Questlove, though, was meditating.


At the time of the slap, Rock was in the middle of presenting the best documentary feature award. Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and others were nominated in that category for their film "Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)," a documentary about the Harlem Cultural Festival. Mentally, however, The Roots drummer was simply not there, he told late night host Jimmy Fallon on Monday.


The staff at the event tell the nominees ahead of time when their category is next, Questlove told Fallon. Rather than waiting anxiously, Questlove chose to meditate. "When the commercial break was happening, I was just in my 'Mmmmm,'" he told Fallon, closing his eyes. "So when I opened my eyes, I didn't realize. Like 'Why is everyone so quiet?'"

Questlove said he has been practicing transcendental meditation, a practice that comedian Jerry Seinfeld first introduced to him, for two years now.

 

Book Nook: The Ballerina Mindset by Megan Fairchild  MARCH 24, 2022

The Ballerina Mindset is written for people who are ambitious, so naturally it touches on stress and stress management. Fairchild writes about her experience with transcendental meditation (TM), which she experimented with after a series of fainting spells and panic attacks that landed her in the hospital.

“TM is a method of meditation that is taught in a methodological way to help you learn how to let go of thoughts effortlessly,” Fairchild writes. “The idea is that by slowing down the mind we release stress and heal the body and mind, so that after meditating we are able to resume our activities with clarity, intention and energy.”

After practicing TM, Fairchild says her approach to life was “slower and calmer,” which helped her with both of her burdens. 

One burden we all face as a product of stress is a fear of feedback, which she also focuses on. After seeing her name pop up in both good and bad reviews in the media, Fairchild believes that ignoring any sort of comments from people who are not trusted mentors or close friends is fruitless and does not help you improve your personal strength.

It can also make the struggle for self-satisfaction harder, especially for perfectionists. 

“Achieving perfection isn’t possible 100 percent of the time, and we have to pick and choose when to put that effort into play,” Fairchild writes. “It’s not always a positive thing to push ourselves past what we are capable of handling.”

When you release the pressure of perfectionism, you are more likely to be able to handle failure, she says. But failure in work, life, relationships and more is natural and necessary if one wants to grow.
