Happy Fathers Day - June 19th

Father's Day was inaugurated in the United States in the early 20th century to complement Mother's Day in celebrating fathers, fathering, and fatherhood.

Father's Day was founded in Spokane, Washington at the YMCA in 1910 by Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas. Its first celebration was in the Spokane YMCA on June 19, 1910. Her father, the Civil War veteran William Jackson Smart, was a single parent who raised his six children there. After hearing a sermon about Anna Jarvis's Mother's Day at Central Methodist Episcopal Church in 1909, she told her pastor that fathers should have a similar holiday honoring them. Although she initially suggested June 5, her father's birthday, the pastors of the Spokane Ministerial Alliance did not have enough time to prepare their sermons, and the celebration was deferred to the third Sunday of June.

Juneteenth is also June 19th

Juneteenth (officially Juneteenth National Independence Day and also known as Jubilee DayEmancipation Day, Freedom Day, and Black Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. It is also often observed for celebrating African-American culture. Originating in GalvestonTexas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19 in various parts of the United States since 1865. The day was recognized as a federal holiday on June 17, 2021, when President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act into law.

Increased Coherence, Increased Hope

Help Support Peace-Creating Groups for Ukraine & Russia

Thank you for your continuing support for our peace-creating groups in Ukraine, Russia, and Romania.

Donations from nearly 2,000 benefactors worldwide now total more than $373,000, in addition to $360,000 in sponsorship from the U.S. and international Transcendental Meditation (TM®) organizations. But we still need $127,000 to reach our GoFundMe goal of $500,000 to support these groups through June 30—and beyond, as long as funds are available.

Your contributions have made—and will continue to make—a difference!

During the past eight weeks, over 700 participants have gathered together in World Peace Assemblies in these countries to awaken the deep silence and powerful coherence of the field of Transcendental Consciousness and to learn advanced programs to accelerate the influence of harmony in the region. Here are three signs of rising coherence:

  • TM-Sidhi® training: In the past month, over 230 people have taken the advanced TM-Sidhi course.
  • TM courses in Ukraine: In the last two weeks, over 250 people have learned the TM technique throughout Ukraine.
  • TM courses in Russia: In the last few weeks, over 1,400 people have learned the TM technique in Russia, and nearly 1,000 more have signed up to learn in the coming weeks—a sharp increase from the preceding months.

Some participants have had to return to their families and work, but many others have pledged to continue on the World Peace Assemblies as long as funding is available:

  • Ukraine: 50 will continue until June 30.
  • Russia: 80 will continue until June 30, then more during the summer.
  • Romania: 100 or more is the goal until June 30 and beyond.

In light of world events, in addition to the large Yagyas now going on and the global coherence meditation times and peace assemblies, we also want to use the powerful peace-enhancing Vedic technologies of Vedic recitations and Maharishi Gandharva Veda, and make them as easily and as widely available as possible.

The offer: All new subscribers to the Maharishi Veda App will receive their first 3 months free, available to all those who sign up before Guru Purnima. These new subscribers can cancel anytime before the end of those 90 days without incurring any cost.

How to subscribe: There are 3 easy ways to subscribe to the Maharishi Veda App:

How to listen: It is ideal to sit comfortably and, if desired, with eyes closed. It is fine to have Vedic recitations or Maharishi Gandharva Veda playing softly in the background. Listening while driving a car is not advised.

Advanced Techniques Course

Saturday June 18th

Take Your Experience to the Next Level with an Advanced Technique of the TM Program

Application Meeting Friday June 17th @ 2PM

Personal Instruction: Saturday June 18th

Checking Meeting: Sunday June 19th @ 9:30am & 11am

The purpose of Advanced Techniques is to take the experience to another, higher level. Advanced Techniques are like fertilizers; fertilizers bring better fruit to every tree. To enjoy greater achievement and fulfillment in life, take advantage of this beautiful program of Advanced Techniques to enrich the development of higher states of consciousness.” —TM Founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are Advanced Techniques?

A: Like the TM technique, Advanced Techniques are easily-practiced mental techniques that accelerate personal growth. During TM, we experience a fourth state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness that dissolves stress, enhances brain functioning, and balances the body and emotions. Advanced Techniques speed up the integration of this state with our regular daily activity, bringing faster results from our TM practice.

Q: How many are there?

A: There are four Advanced Techniques brought to light by Maharishi in his Vedic Science and Technology, the Science and Technology of Consciousness. The first is practiced for a few minutes before going to sleep. The second, third, and fourth Advanced Techniques are effortlessly incorporated into your twice-daily TM practice.

Q: Do I learn them all at once or one at a time?

A: One at a time and in sequence. You’ll practice an Advanced Technique at least two to four months before adding the next one.

Q: Who teaches the Advanced Techniques?

A: Specially trained, highly experienced certified TM teacher Mario Orsatti has been teaching the TM technique since 1973 and the Advanced Technique courses for the last 4 years. He is the Executive Director of the Center for Health and Wellness at the David Lynch Foundation, where he oversees TM programs for government and military leaders in Washington, D.C., and for business executives in New York City. He will be present at each session for instruction and verification.

Q: Who can learn, and how do I know if I’m ready?

A: You must have practiced TM regularly, twice a day, for a minimum of the last two months to be eligible to apply for an Advanced Technique. Each technique is simple—easy to learn, easy to practice—and, best of all, enjoyable! That said, if you’d like our advice regarding your personal readiness, just give us a call.

Q: What is the course structure?

A: The course consists of three sessions:

  • First, an orientation meeting (1½ hours)
  • Second, personal instruction in the appropriate Advanced Technique (2–3 hours)
  • Third, a checking meeting the following day to answer questions and verify the correctness of your practice (2 hours)

Orientation: An orientation meeting is an opportunity to learn more about Advanced Techniques. It is free, and there is no obligation to take the course. But if you want to learn an Advanced Technique at this time, you must attend the orientation meeting and then fill out an application form. The orientation meeting will be held on Friday May 20-th at 2:00 PM.

Q: How do I begin?

A: Respond by email at wdevasier@tm.org or call 641-919-8188 or 641-919-1300. If this orientation meeting time does not work for you, let us know, and we will find another time to meet with you.

NEXT US NATIONAL YAGYASM PERFORMANCE MAY 31 – JUNE 10

Maharishi has given us a clear understanding of Yagyas, and what makes this innocent, natural performance so powerful:

“The Vedic routine of life is pure, refined, and free from malicious things—Satoguna. The Vedic Pandit performing a Yagya in that balanced state easily realizes the resolution that he makes in the beginning of the Yagya.

“The Pandit makes a resolution (Sankalpa), and then does what is prescribed to create that quality of intelligence in his own consciousness from the level of Omnipresent Transcendental Consciousness. From there, he produces the desired effect in space and time.

“Larger groups of Vedic Pandits performing Yagyas will take care of all kinds of negative trends in society.

“Every government has to be doing Yagyas. Yagya is not a known word in our civilization, and that is why peace and happiness are not known realities in this civilization. They do not know where the seat of all harmony, all peace, all prosperity, all fullness, and eternity are.”Maharishi, May 18, 2005

Until all governments are able to recognize the necessity for Yagyas, it is our joyful duty to take advantage of Yagyas ourselves to uplift the destiny and deservedness of our nation in the family of nations.

The next 11-day US National Yagya will begin on the evening of May 31.

The Sankalpa (intention) of the Yagya will be:

Coherence, harmony, health, prosperity and spiritual awakening

for the United States—and all its people and

Bringing healing, coherence, and peace

to all the people of the Ukraine and Russia region

May the full power of Nature’s Creative Intelligence guide and uplift America, and may Maharishi’s legacy of peace and enlightenment permanently bless the human race.

Come and join the Peace Creators at the Black Sea in Mamaia, Romania

The appeal is, anything that can be done tomorrow should be done today, and anything that can be done today should be done now. One doesn’t know what news comes.”

– Maharishi, November 19 2003

We are delighted to announce that the World Peace Assembly in Romania, which has been running since March 2022, is continuing.

Mamaia is both a safe and beautiful beach-side holiday location, with the sea on the east, where we can create a powerful influence of peace near the border of Ukraine. Our hotel facilities include spacious flying halls that we aim to fill to capacity!

To date, over 300 people from 29 countries have attended this important peace-creating assembly. Participants are reporting beautiful experiences, with bubbling bliss and much laughter, while enjoying the profound WPA Program.

Join Us at the “Genius Lounge”

Welcome to the “Genius Lounge,” a new audio series with Bob Roth, CEO of the David Lynch Foundation, author of the NY Times bestseller, “Strength in Stillness,” and 50-year teacher of Transcendental Meditation®.

Why do we call it Genius Lounge?

This audio series focuses on the genius of nature, from microscopic to macroscopic, including the genius of the human brain and body. The name was inspired by brain researchers who have identified key networks within the brain that underlie and foster the creative process. One such network is the “Default Mode Network,” which has also been called the “Imagination Network” and the “Genius Lounge.” Innovation gets its start here—and the practice of Transcendental Meditation accelerates the process by strengthening the creative networks within the brain and by removing the restrictive impact of stress.

In each episode, Bob shares a few minutes of exciting research findings on the brain, ancient and modern insights into consciousness, and/or inspiration to live a healthier, happier life.

New Maharishi Audio eBook: A Gift of Bliss

The first of the three sections of this E-book features a lecture from 1970 in which Maharishi is asked about the Vedic term Sat Chit Ananda. Maharishi explains that when the eternal Absolute, Sat, is directly known and experienced as a living reality, then it must be equated with Pure Consciousness, Chit. And then the nature of that experience will be Ananda, Bliss: 'Fulfilling, absolute happiness – that will be the experience.' This first section has text and audio.

The second section is a recitation by the Maharishi Vedic Pandits of an Upanishadic verse about Ananda which Maharishi quotes in this lecture: Anandad dhyeva khalvimani bhutani jayante.

The final section offers Maharishi’s translation and commentary of this verse. This section has text.

This eBook with audio along with the text from this lecture includes some very beautiful pictures of Maharishi. We highly recommend viewing it on a computer with Google Chrome as this gives a very full and enjoyable experience. Please turn the pages slowly and wait for the audio bar to begin playing on the selected pages with audio. The first audio bar appears on page 4 after the title pages.

Ending the War Within | 46:08

A discussion with award-winning filmmaker Tigran Nersisian

Tigran Nersisian discusses his career and the impact of his TM practice on his professional and personal life. He also talks about his new documentary on the effects of the TM technique on the lives of those suffering from PTSD in a war-torn region of Armenia—an initiative inspired by the success of ArmeniaRecoveryNow, which is providing funding for those learning TM.

Mr. Nersisian is an award-winning filmmaker based in Los Angeles. He was born in Yerevan, Armenia, in 1995, and grew up aspiring to make films. After moving to the United States at the age of 17 and quickly learning English, he immediately began working on several film projects.

In 2017 Mr. Nersisian joined the undergraduate film program at the University of California, Los Angeles. His breakthrough came with his thesis film, Out of Mind (2019), which was featured at the Pomegranate Film Festival and earned awards at a number of international festivals. It tells the story of a young Armenian’s intense struggle with depression and anxiety.

Since then, Mr. Nersisian’s creative work has branched out to include narratives, documentaries, and art films. His new documentary, Ending the War Within, brings to life the inspiring stories of Armenians who have found relief from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) resulting from the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war in a disputed region between Armenia and Azerbaijan. His documentary is a powerful look into the lives of real people who have survived the trauma of war by learning and practicing the Transcendental Meditation technique.

Part of Mr. Nersisian’s motivation for this documentary is his own experience practicing the TM technique, which he learned two years ago after reading David Lynch’s book Catching the Big Fish: Meditation, Consciousness, and Creativity.

EMPTY NEST: Three Ukranian students to attend Maharishi School

CURT SWARM Jun 1, 2022

Curt’s weekly newspaper column, “Empty Nest,” is in 25 Iowa newspapers. Here are some online that posted this story: Southeast Iowa UnionThe Hawk EyeNewton Daily NewsFort Madison Daily DemocratPen City Current.

Mariia, Olena and Sviatoslav (or Sviat, pronounced “Fiat”) were in a quandary. All three are excellent students and college bound, but because of the war, their lives are scattered all over, some in other countries. These are teenagers, mind you, but they realized they had to take charge. They went to niche.com and searched for schools. They knew they wanted to go to the United States where they would be safer (hopefully). They did not want the east or west coasts because they feared the coasts could be the target of Russian nuclear attacks. The Midwest should be safer. They found that Maharishi School in Fairfield is the top private school in Iowa and in the top 6% in the U.S. Fairfield is a small town in the middle of nowhere, surely it would be safe.

Another attraction for the three war-torn students is that Maharishi School practiced yoga Transcendental Meditation. One of the students’ mothers practiced yoga TM, and the students knew it would help them cope with the stress of their new life.

This Is Where The Beatles Stayed In Uttarakhand, And Now It's In Ruins: The Decaying Story Of '84 Kutia'

Ashwani Sharma Jun 01, 2022

Within the Rajaji tiger reserve in Rishikesh are the ruins of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram where the Beatles spent over a month in meditation

They arrived at India’s ‘spiritual capital’, Rishikesh, 54 years ago. The Beatles went on to explore India’s rich spiritual heritage, passionately practising meditation in a perfect Himalayan setting—a deep forest on a small hillock on the eastern banks of the Ganges.

They played their guitars, wrote 48 iconic songs and sent countless postcards to their overseas friends. Their presence put India on the top of the world tourism map.

At least one of them—John Lennon—gave the finishing touches to his romance, with the Japanese multimedia artist Yoko Ono.

They wore Indian clothes, while the women accompanying them, including Cynthia Lennon, John’s first wife, donned saris and bindis all through their stay at the sprawling 14-acre ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi—known worldwide for his movement called Transcendental Meditation. They ate vegetarian food and sat for long meditation sessions. Yogi is said to have invited the band to change the West’s attitude toward Indian spirituality and his Transcendental Meditation.

Here is a second article also published in Outlook

The process of obtaining information about the visit of The Beatles from Liverpool in the Indian Himalayas and other facts about Chaurasi Kutiya still continues. In fact, it has turned into an obsession.

I made my first visit to Chaurasi Kutiya, now popularly known as the Beatles Ashram, in Rishikesh way back in 2003. The simple idea of my trip was to write a piece for the Hindustan Times, where I was working as a reporter. The visit took me to the erstwhile Ashram of spiritual Guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and I was stunned by the landscape of the area, architect of the buildings and could feel the vibration.

To make my report interesting and insightful, I began searching for local persons who would provide me with details about the 1968 tour of the musical group and the Ashram history. But, I failed to locate any such person in the pilgrimage town. I extended my search through the internet and established contact with two time Emmy award-winning Canadian filmmaker Paul Saltzman, photographer Ram Panjabi and other persons who had stayed at Maharishi Ashram or visited there during the Fab Four stay.
